The role:
The client is looking for a Director of Software Engineering to drive our Products engineering group. this is a unique opportunity to join our growing business, revamp our existing products along with building new ones and drive business value faster.
Responsibilities:
*Drive design, building & re-factoring of mission-critical, highly available cloud-based systems and web application serving global customers 24/7
*Own your production; ensure visibility and maintain SLA; partner with Operations team to mitigate business impact
*Measure deliverables' quality, promote shift left and reliance on automated testing
*Partner with Product team, contribute to roadmap planning and own related execution; create clarity and focus for team
*Drive engineering practices improvement, foster innovation, and excellence
*Build & lead diverse and geo distributed organization of software engineers; mentor team leaders; recruit and onboard a new team; instil positive team spirit and culture (approximately 20 people total)
*Formulate and implement agile & software engineering processes; measure performance KPIs and improve
Requirements:
*2+ years' experience as Director of Software Engineering with a hands on approach
*Experience designing and building highly available, scalable, cloud solutions; using cloud managed services
*Proficient in Java/Spring Boot, SQL server and one or more of the following tech: Kafka, RMQ, Redis, S3, Lambda and other cloud/AWS technologies
*Experience in driving agile engineering processes, measure performance KPIs and improve
*Proven experience in building a high performing team; experience with multi-cultural & geo-distributed teams (>10 people)
*Experience with the multi-region cloud solutions; ideally based using AWS technologies - key advantage
