About the Project:
Our client in the energy sector is contributing to Europe and Belgium's ambitions for the Energy Transition by extending its offshore high-voltage grid. This grid will connect the new Belgian windfarms situated within the "Princess Elisabeth Windfarm zone."

The Princess Elisabeth Zone will also host an innovative energy island, a key step toward building a European electricity grid at sea and achieving European climate goals. This island will be the first offshore electricity hub, connecting cables from the 2nd offshore wind zone and future interconnectors with countries like the UK and Denmark.

The concept involves:

Building one offshore artificial island.
Connecting windfarms at the 66kV level (managed by windfarm owners).
Linking electrical modules to the mainland via 220kV cables.
General Information on the Role:
The project is currently in the Early Works phase, followed by the construction phase. The Early Works phase involves the detailed design and construction engineering of the island, carried out by a joint venture of contractors.

The island construction consists of two key subpackages:

Dredging, reclamation, and rockworks.
Island Structures - which include concrete constructions (Caissons, wave walls, top slabs, etc.) that protect electrical installations and house interface structures necessary for offshore cable routing and utilities installation.
Role Overview:
The Construction Manager will assist the Island Structures Lead and Package Manager in overseeing the construction activities associated with the Island Structures, both on-site and off-site. The role involves coordination of concrete structures that protect electrical installations and facilitate offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Report to the Island Structures Lead and work within a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
Support the development of the project during both the engineering and construction phases.
During the Early Works phase:

Review work method statements and procurement documentation.
Check the constructability of engineering designs.
Provide safety input based on "Safety in Design" principles.
During the Construction Works phase:

Oversee onsite and offsite construction to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
Review daily work progress and manage construction documentation.
Ensure adherence to contractual performance conditions.
Identify and resolve non-conformances and defects.
Assist in handling change requests or RFIs impacting construction activities.
Provide input for project payment management based on construction progress.
Manage and monitor schedules for construction activities, identifying critical timelines.
Participate in risk management as part of the broader project strategy.
Proactively propose technical improvements and safety enhancements.
Qualifications:
Experience: 5-8 years in civil works, with preference for marine or offshore sector experience.
Education: Civil Engineer, Bachelor in Construction, or equivalent by experience.
Knowledge of construction methods, technologies, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts.
Familiarity with building codes and scheduling methods.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to process a large volume of information while maintaining an overview of the project.
Experience working on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Experience with heavy concrete structures and transportation, especially in marine environments.
Knowledge of construction site safety practices.
Assertive, accountable, and resourceful team player.
Excellent MS Office skills.
Languages:
Fluent in English.
Fluent in French or Dutch.
Working Hours & Location:
Full-time: 5 days a week at the contractor's office and various worksites.
Potential for short business trips.
