Our client, a key player in the energy sector, is expanding its offshore high-voltage grid as part of Belgium and Europe's energy transition efforts. The project will connect new Belgian wind farms located in the "Princess Elisabeth Windfarm Zone," and will also include the development of a future-oriented energy hub: Princess Elisabeth Island. This island will serve as a crucial hub for offshore wind farms and future interconnectors with other European countries.
Job Description:
As a Project Engineer, you will support the Island Structures Lead and Package Manager during the Early Works and Construction phases of this pioneering energy island project. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, procurement officers, HSE experts, and more. The project focuses on the development and construction of Princess Elisabeth Island, which involves complex marine and offshore engineering tasks.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of Island Concrete Structures during the Basic and Detailed Design phases.
Evaluate alternatives and propose value engineering solutions.
Review design documentation and work method statements.
Coordinate the input required by contractors and manage interfaces for your scope.
Monitor and follow up on non-conformities and project changes.
Navigate the team through the BIM model and ensure alignment with technical specifications.
Support contract management covering design, fabrication, and installation.
Help manage project schedules, identifying critical milestones.
Assist in risk management as part of the overall project risk strategy.
Propose technical improvements and safety enhancements, contributing proactively to project feedback.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Civil Engineering Master's Degree or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in structural design or engineering, ideally in the marine or offshore sector.
Technical Expertise: Experience in concrete structures design and construction is essential.
Software Skills: Excellent proficiency in MS Office. BIM knowledge is highly advantageous.
Languages: Fluent in English and either French or Dutch.
Communication: Strong communicator, able to write detailed reports and explain project criticalities.
Teamwork: Collaborative, assertive, and accountable team player.
Problem-Solving: Capable of proposing innovative solutions and improvements.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Structured, independent, and precise in working methods.
Resourceful, motivated, and eager to contribute to a leading offshore wind project.
Working Environment:
You will work from both the Brussels office and the contractor's office located between Brussels and the seaside.
Occasional short business trips (once every two months) may be required to visit project locations.
