My Client a major engineering/Manufacturing company are looking fro an experienced Buyer near their Peterlee Office (although remote working is a possibility)

There is the opportunity to travel around Europe, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, and China 20 % of the time on an ad hoc basis.

JOB PURPOSE: Provides purchasing support to the Category Purchasing team, using Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development.

Major Role: - This role is responsible and accountable for the execution of Category strategies. Primarily, the role will involve the formation and execution strategic supplier relationships to assure on-time quality supply at market competitive cost. Focus will be fabrications and electrical harnesses.

The incumbent will also develop knowledge of the product, NPI, Manufacturing, Supply Chain teams.

Customers - The role will encompass managing suppliers delivering into Peterlee Manufacturing site. Customers include contacts at all organisation levels within the business.

Collaborate with Supplier Development Engineers, to ensure continuous improvement in
QCLDM (Quality, cost, logistics, development and management) with key suppliers. Build and foster mutually beneficial supplier relationships at all organisational levels.

The position requires an appropriate level of experience within a Purchasing function in order to establish and manage relationships with numerous direct suppliers. Demonstrated experience of working closely with Suppliers is essential.
Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, and reaching consensus on specific actions related to piece part procurement
