This is an excellent Production Engineering opportunity to work at a precision component organisation. The client's products are installed within several key industries. The company is certified to AS9100 Rev D and accredited to Nadcap special process EDM machining. As the business need is growing your skills are required. The position is in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

Bring your minimum of five years production or manufacturing experience to the position and aid in the core activities set out below. You will be assigned the manufacturing process for production. The focus is on safety, production of quality product on time and under budget. The job scope will range from day-to-day support to implementation of new products and processes.


You will be spending time identifying solutions to production issues, that means work with the machinists and shop floor staff and helping them to increase efficiencies. The range of machinery covers a broad range. The role requires a process driven solution based mindset and someone who keeps a holistic eye across the responsibilities.


Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities overview


Create and properly maintain process documentation; Work instructions, PFMEA, Control plans, maintenance plans, etc
Optimise all aspects of existing production processes. Safety, Quality, Delivery, and cost.
Manage Capex projects from identification through justification, implementation, and validation.
Create and properly manage BOMS and routings.
Responsible for COPQ: Scrap, rework and returns. Making improvements to reduce and eliminate.
Properly deploy lean tools and practices throughout operations. Standards work, 5S, TPM, VRK and VSM.

Your background will cover

Educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial.
3-7 years industry experience in rotating equipment design, preferably for electric motors.
A proven record of developing capable manufacturing processes.
A proven record of solving difficult problems and improving processes.
Experience with the proper deployment of lean tools and practices a plus. Examples are standard work, 5S, VSM and TPM.
Ability to work across organisational functions and generate results without direct reporting relationships.
Strong written and verbal communications.
Experience with solid works a plus.
Knowledge and experience with electric motor design and application a plus.
Experience in leading kaizen, and/or rapid improvement events a plus.
Formal Green Belt / Black belt training or another problem-solving methods a plus.
Experience with Minitab a plus.
