Typically, the role will include:
The specification, selection and design review of piping materials, piping special items, insulation systems, manual valves and pressure testing procedures. The job requires technical knowledge of the equipment, the engineering of it into process plant and the management of suppliers.
Compliance with client specifications and liaison with client representatives.
Assisting the Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer for major projects. Performing the Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer role for other projects as required and taking responsibility for the work of assigned Mechanical Systems Engineers in the section.
Coordination of the outsourcing of Piping Engineering to the India design office.
Ideally, you will be educated to the following level:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Relevant experience in a Mechanical Systems/Piping materials environment.
Must have proven ability as a lead specialist engineer on projects in terms of budget control (man-hours & materials cost), mechanical integrity, working to schedule and reporting out on project status.
Experience with and thorough understanding of the B31.3 design code and supporting ASME component and ASTM material standards.
Thorough understanding of the design, selection, application and performance of manual valves and insulation systems. Good knowledge of piping materials, manual valve and piping special items suppliers and their product ranges.
Knowledge of the Pressure Equipment Directive would also be beneficial.
Must be conscientious, self-motivating and have good communication skills and an astute commercial awareness.
