Our industrial gases company client seeks a Pressure Systems Engineer for a contract role. The role will be based in Carrington, Manchester. You will be a self-starter and have experience of working with technical records for pipework and vessels in a process, power generation or chemical industry environment.

Reporting to Pressure Systems Manager, who will give plant priority and ongoing technical support, but the job holder will have responsibility for execution of the planned own work. In-depth PSSR experience (& approval) is critical to this role.

Pressure Systems Engineer summary

*To review, revise and update pressure systems documents in-line with the UK Pressure Systems Regulation and corporate procedures. This includes creating/revising the written scheme of examinations and pressure vessel/system registration records.
*The role requires an understanding of process/chemical plant line diagrams and typical engineering documentation (mechanical drawings, data sheets, technical files etc.).
*The job holder should be tenacious and thorough; and be able to interpret available technical data to appropriately fill any gaps found.
*The role will include travel to the different sites across the UK.

Accountabilities

*To review/audit existing plant pressure system records & documents and update as required.
*To review plant P&IDs against pressurised equipment and system safety devices. Update the register of pressure equipment (vessels, piping systems and relief devices) for the plant.
*To revise and/or specify inspection operating windows or safe operating limits for the pressure equipment and piping systems.
*To review actions from previous audits and ensure that all issues highlighted have been resolved.
*To revise the written scheme of examination in alignment with equipment's current condition, to be accomplished using maintenance/inspection reports and site visits.
*To ensure that the WSE inspection requirements are captured and created in the maintenance management software (i.e., SAP).
*To resolve any gaps in pressure system records and fully document the justification.
*To ensure all corrective actions from previous inspections are planned or completed.

Pressure Systems Engineer Qualifications and Experience

You will be a self-starter and have experience of working with technical records for pipework and vessels in a process, power generation or chemical industry environment.

*Chartered Engineer with an accredited engineering institute, or equivalent.
*Experience of writing and/or approving written schemes of examination would be an advantage.
*A good working knowledge of the UK Pressure Systems Safety Regulation (PSSR) and the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
*Experience in working with a maintenance management software (e.g., SAP) and a mechanical integrity management software (e.g. Credo).
*An understanding of ASME and European codes for design, inspection, and repair. API codes is advantageous.
*The ability and confidence to work with limited information to determine the appropriate course of action.
*Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across all levels (technical and non-technical).
*Good IT skills (Word, Excel & databases).
*A driving licence and be willing to travel to the operating sites.
