Diversity & Inclusion at Volt

Diversity And Inclusion At Volt

by Charlotte Gurney

The Beginning

Volt may be a global force in workforce solutions, but the humble heart that shaped our foundation 70 years ago still defines us. The Volt story began in 1950 when two brothers, who were first-born American sons of Ellis Island immigrants, found themselves struggling to find work in the postwar economy. Determined to turn his luck around, one of the brothers said that if he could not find a job, he would give himself one, and set out to start a business with his sibling that would eventually grow into the global staffing enterprise that Volt is today.  This foundational story of difficulty and perseverance fostered an entrepreneurial spirit at Volt that has since empowered generations of doers and dreamers. This spirit is Volt’s unique power, driving the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to do great things and that Volt’s Expert Momentum - which continues to drive us forward - is Momentum For All.

Supplier Diversity

Volt firmly supports equal opportunity in all buyer/supplier relationships. As a result, Volt has developed a diversity utilization program and often works with our clients to develop and implement similar initiatives within their organizations. Volt also seeks to align itself with other organizations to promote diversity in procurement and subcontracting. We offer consultative support to clients who, like Volt, are committed to ensuring diversity inclusion in their business practices. Currently, Volt reports diversity usage to various clients whose business activities are regulated by federal, state, county, and municipal statutes. These ongoing efforts reaffirm our commitment to offer equal economic opportunity to all segments of the business community.
